LAW FIRM AND BIOGRAPHICAL INFORMATION

Joel Sawyer graduated from UNC-Chapel Hill earning undergraduate and law degrees.  In 2017 Sawyer qualified for the patent bar exam through "Schedule C" by passing the Fundamentals of Engineering Exam administered through the State of Michigan, and in 2018 he earned his Registration Number with the United States Patent and Trademark Office.

Having a long-felt interest in engineering, Sawyer has cultivated significant legal experience with the hope of applying those analytical and communication skills to the field of patent law.  His interest is in patent prosecution, prior art searches, freedom to operate opinions, start-up business questions, and, in general, brainstorming legal strategies for inventors and entrepreneurs.

In addition to MyPatent.Law, Sawyer is also the owner and manger of Skyludus.com, an online review course for those aspiring to sit for the patent bar.  Launched in 2019 as Skyludus, LLC, the business aims at expanding in the field of online education.

Sawyer is married to a practicing nurse educator, and together they have two beautiful and (relatively) small children.
